New artists added to our music programme

We are thrilled to present new additions to this year’s music programme.

Two artists who both have marked their names are performing at this year’s festival including the British pioneer Actress who explores the social potentials of artificial intelligence with the help of his AI-based character Young Paint. While the French artist Félicia Atkinson lets her ambient sound merge together with the wild visuals by artist and documentarist Ben Rivers.

As the cherry on top, we are celebrating all of this at Copenhagen Contemporary with the full release of the music programme on February 7. Joined by live performance by Danish Excelsior and the film screening of ‘Felix in Wonderland’.

A unique digital duet between man and machine.
Actress explores the creative and social potentials of artificial intelligence, along with his AI character Young Paint.

Darren Jordan Cunningham aka Actress has since his debut release ‘Splazsh’ been labeled as a pioneer of the experimental club scene. Elements from 2-step, garage and Detroit techno blend into an unpredictable dark universe of bass.

Since the album ‘AZD’ from 2017, Actress has moved beyond club music and in 2018 released his 6th album ‘LAGEOS’ in collaboration with the London Contemporary Orchestra. His latest project, released as a mini-album and now being seen as a live AI / AV performance, is an exploration of the potential of artificial intelligence. Here, Actress performs side by side with the AI character Young Paint, who will act as a live-size multi-screen projection on stage.

Abstract and ambient universe interweaving with cinematic images
In an artistic meeting, the enigmatic sound artist Félicia Atkinson will merge with the experimental filmmaker Ben Rivers at Kunsthal Charlottenborg

Experience Atkinson’s abstract and ambient universe interweaving with cinematic images from Rivers for an audio-visual concert. The concert is presented together with ALICE cph.

The French musician, poet and visual artist Félicia Atkinson has with her interweaving of captivating electronic soundscapes and whispering monologues attained international recognition in the electronic music scene.

This evening, the music is accompanied by visuals created uniquely for the festival by visionary artist and film director Ben Rivers. His use of analogue media and mix of documentary and fiction has made him a fixture on CPH:DOX, where his films have been screened numerous times and have won various awards.
