Parties on location and special events are CPH:DOX’s trademark and this year is not an exception. The film ‘Sour Grapes’ will be screened in a wine cellar, ‘Burning Out’, a film about stressful hospital work, will be shown at Rigshospitalet and the urban gardening documentary ‘Wild Plants’ will be followed by a talk and tasting at BRUS. As for the parties, we will celebrate teenage-hood with Girls Are Awesome, host a disco evening at Bremen, an opening party at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, a final party with Vice and the yearly Opening Gala at DR Koncerhuset.

For the inauguration of our new festival centre Kunsthal Charlottenborg, we will host an opening party together with Turning Tables, the premiere of a new film by SUPERFLEX, DJs, VJs and lots of surprises – all of this for free! Find the event here.



Imagine climbing to the top of the antenna on a skyscraper, with no parachute. Experience it at the World Premiere of ‘On the Edge of Freedom’ at OBV studios, with the introduction from director and producers themselves. Northern Disco Lights + Lindstrøm – Saturday March 18

Saturday is disco night! But not just any kind of disco, a Nordic disco! The international premiere of the documentary ‘Northern Disco Lights’ will followed by a disco-blast with a live performance by Lindstrøm, Christian D’Or and Soul Shaker at Bremen. More information here


RAGE x afterparty at Culturebox – Saturday, March 18

PC music+Girls’ Night Out x DRIB Saturday, March 18 

The European premiere of the true story of a famous energy drink and their failed marketing scheme, the party-starter ‘DRIB’ will be celebrated with pop-sounds from PC Music and Girls’ Night out. Come for a bubbly evening of blip-blop and post-pop! More info and tickets here.



SPACE10 in Meatpacking District in Copenhagen will be hosting five events during the festival. In cooperation with IFHP, CPH:DOX and SPACE10 will host an evening dedicated to architecture with the screening og the film ‘Citizen Jane: Battle For The City”, followed by a conversation with architect Jan Gehl about Jane Jacobs and the future of cities. Hormone crushing teen-girl film ‘All This Panic’ focuses on our stormy teenage years – followed by an afterparty with girl-DJ’ing who will prepare the dance floor for a sizzling night and morning at Bremen. More info here



Three events to look “beyond radio” – full of music, talks and inspiring people! ‘The Heart’ on how to tell erotic, deeply private and emotional stories on audio / ‘Here Be Monsters’ with Jeff Emtman who will curate sound for a growing community of radio producers, artists and listeners, who are interested in confronting their fears and the unknown. / ‘Radio Diaries’ by Joe Richman, telling the extraordinary stories about ordinary lives.


VR-Cinema & Inter:activities  

At this year’s CPH:DOX we have built an interactive exhibition and Denmark’s first ever pop-up Virtual Reality cinema at Kunsthal Charlottenborg. Here you can experience five interactive works and three Virtual Reality (VR) programmes that explore the potential of VR from different thematic angles: VR:ART, VR:IMPACT and VR:SCIENCE. The VR events are free and accessible from 11:00 to 21:00 at Kunsthal Charlottenborg! More info here



Together with BRUS, CPH:DOX presents six different events, where you can first attend a screening at Empire and then sip a few cold beers next door at BRUS. Take part in ‘Ama-san’‘Working class party’ , ‘Wild plants’, ‘Stranger in Paradise’, ‘A Skyjacker’s Tale’ and ‘Urban Explorers party’!



An unmissable stop at this year’s festival is Kunsthal Charlottenborg. Along with our main sponsor, Normann Copenhagen, CPH:DOX will for 11 days open the doors to a unique festival venue with three cinemas (including a designer sofa cinema and a virtual reality cinema), an international exhibition curated by Toke Lykkeberg, interactive exhibitions, a Blue Room dedicated to debates and discussions, the five-day CPH:CONFERENCE presented with Documentary Campus, as well as a myriad of different social events. Entrance to Kunsthal Charlottenborg, the exhibition ‘Welcome Too Late’, the VR-cinema and the various interactive exhibitions and selected film screenings will be free during the festival.
