‘I Am Not From Here’, a film by Giedre Žickytē and Maite Alberdi, is among the 15 films nominated for the best short documentary award by the European Film Academy. The European Film Awards ceremony will take place on the 10th of December 2016 in Wroclaw/Poland, the European Capital of Culture 2017.
The film is a collaboration between the Lithuanian Žickytē and the Chilean Alberdi, who did not know each other before they were paired up to work on a film by CPH:LAB. CPH:LAB is CPH:DOX’s own talent development, training and production programme. Two filmmakers are chosen to make a film and offered assistance with production and financing of the project.
‘I Am Not Here’ is among other succesful results of a CPH:LAB collaboration, having already won the award for best short documentary at Sheffield Documentary Festival last June. The film touches on themes of Alzheimer and dementia through the story of Josebe, an 88-year-old woman of Basque origin now living in a retirement home in Chile. The film will be part of the CPH:DOX programme 2017.
