On Friday October 16 CPH:DOX celebrates this year’s programme launch with the premiere of ‘Banksy Does New York’ in Bremen Teater, followed by a concert with First Hate.

When CPH:DOX celebrates the programme launch for the thirteenth time, it will be with a great party at Bremen Teater. In collaboration with Normann Copenhagen, one of the festival’s main sponsors this year, CPH:DOX invites you to the premiere of the documentary ‘Banksy Does New York’ by Chris Moukarbel, followed by a concert with the Danish synth-pop duo First Hate and after party – for 70 DKr.

In ‘Banksy Does New York’ the world’s most famous graffiti artist Banksy creates chaos in New York when he invites graffiti enthusiasts, art connoisseurs and followers on a month-long treasure hunt in the city streets. Every day for a month Banksy sends cryptic clues about the location of the day’s piece to thousands of New Yorkers, who go on a frantic hunt against time before it disappears.

The treasure hunters themselves become part of the jaunty work, yet not all are in admiration of the artist’s creations around the city. Banksy’s work quickly develops into a social experiment, its fate laying in the hands of the people of the street. ‘Banksy Does New York’ is a sharp and fast-paced documentary which will kick-start this year’s CPH:DOX with a solid bang.

Danceable tunes
The Danish band First Hate gives a concert after the film and fills Bremen Teater with synth-pop tunes and floating vocals. The Danish duo have gained recognition both at home and abroad with just a simple EP to show for, and have opened for both Trentemøller and Iceage. The synergistic duo’s music is reminiscent of 80s post-punk and new wave. The sound is stripped down, dark and always danceable. The two DJs Beatforskerne and T.O.M will keep the dance floor warm after the concert.

In other words: the world’s third biggest documentary film festival CPH:DOX will once again set the scene for a memorable party.
